Description

The Appalachian Club Sandwich is a hearty, indulgent meal that combines crispy bacon, a perfectly fried egg, cheddar cheese, and fresh lettuce, all sandwiched between golden, toasted bread. This comforting sandwich is a delightful combination of savory, crunchy, and creamy elements that make each bite irresistible. A must-try recipe for any sandwich lover!

Ingredients

  • 2 slices of white or whole wheat bread
  • 4 strips of bacon
  • 2 slices of cheddar cheese
  • 1 large egg
  • 12 leaves of lettuce
  • 2 slices of tomato
  • 2 tablespoons mayonnaise

Instructions

  1. Cook the bacon in a skillet over medium heat for 4-5 minutes on each side, until crispy. Place on paper towels to drain excess grease.
  2. Toast the bread with butter in a griddle or non-stick pan for 2-3 minutes on each side, until golden and crispy.
  3. In the same skillet, fry the egg until the whites are set, but the yolk is runny, about 3 minutes. Season with salt and pepper.
  4. To assemble the sandwich, place a slice of toast on a plate. Add a layer of lettuce, followed by a slice of cheddar cheese, bacon, fried egg, and a slice of tomato. Add another slice of cheese, then top with the second slice of toast.
  5. Slice the sandwich in half and serve immediately.
