Ingredients

4 cube steaks

1 large onion, thinly sliced

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon onion powder

1 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon black pepper

1/4 cup all-purpose flour

2 cups beef broth

1 packet brown gravy mix (about 1 ounce)

2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce

2 tablespoons butter

Instructions

1. Season both sides of the cube steaks with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder.

2. Lightly dredge each steak in flour to coat.

3. Layer sliced onions on the bottom of the slow cooker.

4. Place floured cube steaks on top of the onions, layering if necessary.

5. In a bowl, whisk together beef broth, brown gravy mix, and Worcestershire sauce until smooth.

6. Pour the gravy mixture over the steaks and onions.

7. Cover and cook on low for 6-8 hours or on high for 3-4 hours until the meat is fork-tender.

8. Stir in the butter at the end for extra richness.

9. Taste and adjust seasoning if needed.

10. Serve hot over mashed potatoes, rice, or noodles with plenty of gravy.

Notes

You can use pork chops or chicken thighs in place of cube steak if needed.

For extra-thick gravy, add a cornstarch slurry during the last 30 minutes.

Always let the meat rest for a few minutes before serving to lock in juices.
