- 2 cups broccoli florets (cut into bite-sized pieces)
- 2 cups mushrooms (sliced; cremini or button mushrooms recommended)
- 3 tablespoons olive oil (or neutral cooking oil)
- 3 cloves garlic (minced)
- 1 tablespoon fresh ginger (grated, optional)
- 1/4 cup soy sauce (low sodium recommended)
- 1 tablespoon oyster sauce (optional)
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch (mixed with 2 tablespoons water)
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil
- 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional for spice)
- Salt and pepper to taste

- Prepare the Ingredients:
- Wash and cut the broccoli into florets. Slice the mushrooms evenly. Mince the garlic and grate the ginger.
- In a bowl, whisk together soy sauce, oyster sauce (if using), and cornstarch mixture to create the sauce.
- Blanch the Broccoli:
- Bring a pot of salted water to a boil.
- Add broccoli and blanch for 30 seconds. Drain and immediately rinse under cold water to stop the cooking process.
