Ingredients
- 1 cup (227g) unsalted butter, browned and cooled
- 1 cup (200g) brown sugar, packed
- ½ cup (100g) granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs, room temperature
- 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
- 2 ½ cups (312g) all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- ½ teaspoon baking powder
- ¾ teaspoon salt
- 2 cups (340g) chopped dark chocolate or chocolate chunks
- Flaky sea salt (optional, for topping)
Instructions
- Brown the butter in a saucepan over medium heat until golden and fragrant. Cool for 10–15 minutes.
- In a bowl, whisk brown sugar and granulated sugar. Add browned butter and whisk until smooth.
- Add eggs one at a time, then stir in vanilla extract.
- In another bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
- Gradually mix dry ingredients into wet ingredients. Stir just until combined.
- Fold in chopped chocolate.
- Chill dough for 30 minutes (optional, but recommended).
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line baking sheets with parchment.
- Scoop dough into balls and place 2 inches apart on baking sheet.
- Bake for 10–12 minutes until edges are golden. Centers will look soft.
- Sprinkle warm cookies with flaky sea salt. Cool on tray 5 mins, then transfer to rack.
