Ingredients

1 cup unsalted butter

2 cups all-purpose flour

3/4 cup granulated sugar

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 (14 oz) can sweetened condensed milk

1 cup white chocolate chips

10 oz soft caramels

2 tablespoons heavy cream

Flaky sea salt, for topping

Instructions

1. Melt unsalted butter in a pan over medium heat. Stir until it turns golden brown and smells nutty.

2. In a mixing bowl, combine browned butter, sugar, flour, and a pinch of salt. Mix until a dough forms.

3. Press the dough into a parchment-lined 8×8-inch baking dish. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 15 minutes until lightly golden.

4. In a saucepan, melt sweetened condensed milk with white chocolate chips over low heat, stirring until smooth.

5. Pour the white chocolate mixture over the baked crust and spread evenly.

6. In a separate saucepan, melt the caramels with heavy cream until smooth.

7. Pour the caramel layer over the white chocolate and gently spread. Sprinkle with flaky sea salt.

8. Let the bars cool at room temperature for 30 minutes, then refrigerate for at least 2 hours.

9. Once firm, lift from pan using parchment and slice with a hot, sharp knife.

10. Serve or store as desired.

Notes

Use parchment paper for easy removal and clean slicing.

Chill the bars thoroughly before cutting to get neat layers.

Add sea salt while the caramel is still warm so it sticks properly.
