Ingredients
32 oz frozen crinkle-cut French fries
1 lb ground beef
1 small onion, finely chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
1 tablespoon ketchup
1 tablespoon yellow mustard
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese (divided)
1/4 cup chopped dill pickles (optional)
Ketchup and mustard, for drizzling
Fresh parsley or green onions, chopped (for garnish)
Instructions
1. Preheat oven according to fries’ package instructions (typically 425°F). Bake fries until golden and crisp, about 20-25 minutes, flipping halfway.
2. While fries bake, heat a skillet over medium-high heat. Cook ground beef, breaking it up, then add onion and garlic. Cook until beef is browned and onions are soft.
3. Drain the excess fat from the beef.
4. Stir in salt, pepper, ketchup, mustard, and Worcestershire sauce. Let simmer for 2-3 minutes. Stir in chopped pickles if using. Remove from heat.
5. Transfer baked fries to a greased 9×13-inch casserole dish. Evenly spread the seasoned beef mixture over the fries.
6. Top with 1 1/2 cups of shredded cheddar.
7. Lower oven to 375°F and bake for 10-12 minutes, until cheese is melted and bubbly.
8. Remove from oven and drizzle with ketchup and mustard. Top with remaining cheddar and chopped parsley or green onions. Serve hot.
Notes
Bake fries until golden and crisp to avoid sogginess when topped.
Add pickles or a splash of pickle juice to the meat for extra burger flavor.
Drizzle condiments after baking for fresh flavor and texture.
