Ingredients
1 16 oz mini pretzels
1 cup unsalted butter
1 cup packed light brown sugar
1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
Sea salt flakes optional
Instructions
1. Preheat the oven to 350°F and line a large baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat. Spread the mini pretzels evenly across the prepared pan.
2. Add the butter to a heavy saucepan over medium heat and melt completely. Stir in the brown sugar and cook until the mixture comes to a boil.
3. Boil the butter and brown sugar mixture for 3 minutes, stirring constantly so it does not scorch.
4. Remove the pan from the heat and immediately stir in the vanilla extract and baking soda. The mixture will foam and become lighter in texture.
5. Pour the hot toffee mixture over the pretzels and gently toss with a spatula until the pretzels are evenly coated.
6. Bake for 8 to 10 minutes, stirring once halfway through to help distribute the coating and crisp the pretzels evenly.
7. Remove from the oven and let the pretzels cool completely on the pan. Break apart into clusters and sprinkle with sea salt flakes if desired.
Notes
Use parchment paper so the toffee does not stick and cleanup stays easy.
For an extra indulgent finish, drizzle the cooled pretzels with melted chocolate.
Let the pretzels cool completely before storing so they stay crisp and crunchy.
