Description

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 tbsp ground cinnamon
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 tbsp granulated sugar (for topping)
  • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon (for topping)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan and line with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, 1 cup sugar, baking powder, salt, and 1 tbsp cinnamon.
  3. In another bowl, whisk together buttermilk, egg, melted butter, and vanilla extract.
  4. Add the wet ingredients to the dry and gently stir until just combined. Do not overmix.
  5. Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top.
  6. In a small bowl, mix 2 tbsp sugar and 1/2 tsp cinnamon. Sprinkle evenly over the batter.
  7. Bake for 45–55 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  8. Let the bread cool in the pan for 10–15 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
