Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tbsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 tbsp ground cinnamon
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1 large egg
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 2 tbsp granulated sugar (for topping)
- 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon (for topping)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan and line with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, whisk together flour, 1 cup sugar, baking powder, salt, and 1 tbsp cinnamon.
- In another bowl, whisk together buttermilk, egg, melted butter, and vanilla extract.
- Add the wet ingredients to the dry and gently stir until just combined. Do not overmix.
- Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top.
- In a small bowl, mix 2 tbsp sugar and 1/2 tsp cinnamon. Sprinkle evenly over the batter.
- Bake for 45–55 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Let the bread cool in the pan for 10–15 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
