Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 can (15 oz) tomato sauce
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 bag (32 oz) frozen tater tots
  • 12 fresh jalapeños, sliced

Instructions

  1. Cook the Beef Mixture: In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until browned. Drain excess grease, then add the diced onion and garlic. Cook for another 2-3 minutes until softened. Stir in the tomato sauce, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 5 minutes.
  2. Assemble the Casserole: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Spread the beef mixture evenly in a greased cast-iron skillet or casserole dish. Sprinkle half of the shredded cheddar cheese over the beef.
  3. Add Tater Tots: Arrange the frozen tater tots in a single layer on top of the cheese.
  4. Bake: Place the casserole in the oven and bake for 30-35 minutes until the tots are golden and crispy.
