Ingredients

1 cup long-grain white rice

2 cups chicken broth

1 tablespoon unsalted butter

2 tablespoons fresh parsley, finely chopped

1 teaspoon fresh thyme leaves (or 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme)

1/2 teaspoon kosher salt

1/4 teaspoon black pepper

1 pound large shrimp, peeled and deveined

1 tablespoon olive oil

1 tablespoon unsalted butter

2 garlic cloves, minced

1/2 teaspoon paprika

1/2 teaspoon dried Italian herbs

1/2 teaspoon kosher salt

1/4 teaspoon black pepper

2 tablespoons unsalted butter

3 garlic cloves, minced

1/2 cup heavy cream

1/4 cup chicken broth

1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (optional)

2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

1. Bring broth to a boil in a saucepan. Stir in rice, butter, thyme, salt, and pepper. Cover and simmer on low 15–18 minutes until liquid is absorbed. Fluff and fold in parsley.

2. Pat shrimp dry. Toss with olive oil, butter, garlic, paprika, Italian herbs, salt, and pepper.

3. Sear shrimp in a hot non-stick skillet 2–3 minutes per side until pink and lightly golden. Transfer to a plate.

4. In the same skillet, melt butter, add garlic, and sauté 30 seconds. Stir in broth; simmer.

5. Lower heat; pour in cream and red pepper flakes. Simmer gently 2–3 minutes until slightly thickened; season to taste.

6. Return shrimp to the pan and coat in the sauce.

7. Spoon shrimp and sauce over herb rice; garnish with parsley.

8. Serve immediately with lemon wedges if desired.

Notes

Pat shrimp very dry for the best sear and to keep the sauce from thinning.

Keep the cream at a gentle simmer—boiling can cause splitting.

Season in layers: rice, shrimp, and sauce each get a pinch for full flavor.
