  • 1 cup (125g) all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup (45g) unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 cup (115g) unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup (200g) granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup (100g) brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup (120ml) Dr. Pepper
  • Optional: 1/2 cup chocolate chips or chopped nuts

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line an 8×8 or 9×9-inch pan with parchment paper or grease lightly.
  2. Melt butter in a medium saucepan over low heat. Remove from heat and whisk in both sugars until glossy.
  3. Stir in cocoa powder and Dr. Pepper until well blended and cooled slightly.
  4. Whisk in eggs one at a time, followed by the vanilla extract.
  5. In a separate bowl, sift together flour, salt, and baking powder.
  6. Gently fold dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just combined.
