Ingredients

For the Beef and Vegetables:

  • 1 lb flank steak (thinly sliced against the grain)
  • 1 red bell pepper, sliced into strips
  • 1 green bell pepper, sliced into strips
  • 1 small onion, sliced
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 teaspoon fresh ginger, minced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced

For the Sauce:

  • ¼ cup low-sodium soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons oyster sauce
  • 1 tablespoon hoisin sauce (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • ½ cup beef broth
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil

For Garnishing:

  • 1 teaspoon sesame seeds
  • 2 green onions, chopped

For Serving:

  • Steamed rice or noodles

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Beef: Freeze the steak for 15 minutes, then slice it thinly against the grain.
  2. Marinate: In a bowl, mix soy sauce, oyster sauce, hoisin sauce, cornstarch, sugar, and black pepper. Add beef and let it marinate for 15 minutes.
  3. Prep Vegetables: Slice bell peppers, onion, and mince garlic and ginger.
  4. Cook the Beef: Heat 1 tablespoon oil in a skillet over high heat. Sear beef in a single layer for 2-3 minutes. Remove from pan.
  5. Stir-Fry Vegetables: Add 1 tablespoon oil, stir-fry onions, garlic, and ginger for 30 seconds. Add bell peppers and cook for 2-3 minutes.
  6. Combine Everything: Return beef to the pan, add beef broth, and simmer for 2 minutes until sauce thickens. Stir in sesame oil.
  7. Garnish & Serve: Top with sesame seeds and green onions. Serve over rice or noodles.
