Ingredients
- 1 lb raw shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 8 oz elbow macaroni or small pasta shells
- 3 tbsp butter
- 3 garlic cloves, minced
- 3 tbsp all-purpose flour
- 2 cups heavy cream
- 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese (divided)
- Salt and black pepper, to taste
- Fresh parsley, chopped (optional, for garnish)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9×13-inch casserole dish.
- Cook pasta in salted boiling water until just al dente. Drain and set aside.
- In a large skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Add garlic and sauté until fragrant (about 1 minute).
- Whisk in flour and cook for 1 minute. Gradually add heavy cream, whisking constantly until smooth and slightly thickened.
- Stir in Parmesan and 1 cup of mozzarella cheese. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Add cooked pasta to the sauce and stir to coat evenly. Transfer to the prepared casserole dish.
- Arrange shrimp on top of the pasta, gently pressing them in.
- Sprinkle remaining mozzarella over the top.
- Bake for 20–25 minutes until bubbly and golden. Broil the last 2–3 minutes for extra browning if desired.
- Let rest for 5 minutes. Garnish with fresh parsley and serve hot.
