Ingredients
2 cups filtered water
1 teaspoon ground turmeric (or 1 tablespoon freshly grated turmeric root)
1 tablespoon freshly squeezed lemon juice
1/8 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
1–2 teaspoons raw honey or maple syrup
1/2 teaspoon freshly grated ginger or 1/4 teaspoon ground ginger (optional)
1 small cinnamon stick or a pinch ground cinnamon (optional)
Instructions
1. Heat 2 cups filtered water in a saucepan over medium heat until gently simmering.
2. Whisk in turmeric, black pepper, ginger, and cinnamon. Stir well to prevent clumping.
3. Simmer gently for 8–10 minutes to allow flavors to infuse fully.
4. Remove from heat and strain into a mug if using fresh ingredients.
5. Let cool slightly, then stir in fresh lemon juice.
6. Add honey or maple syrup to taste and stir until dissolved.
7. Serve warm and garnish as desired.
Notes
Simmer gently rather than boiling to avoid bitterness.
Add honey after removing from heat to preserve its natural properties.
Black pepper improves turmeric absorption and enhances overall effectiveness.
