Ingredients

For the Chicken:

  • 1 lb (450g) boneless, skinless chicken breast or thighs, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 1/2 cup cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil

For the Honey Garlic Sauce:

  • 1/3 cup honey
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon fresh ginger, grated (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch mixed with 2 tablespoons water

For Garnishing:

  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds
  • 2 tablespoons green onions, chopped

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Chicken: Pat the chicken dry with a paper towel. In a mixing bowl, toss the chicken with cornstarch, salt, and black pepper until evenly coated.
  2. Cook the Chicken: Heat vegetable oil in a non-stick skillet over medium-high heat. Add chicken in a single layer and cook for 4-5 minutes per side until golden brown. Transfer to a plate.
  3. Make the Sauce: In the same pan, reduce heat to medium and add garlic and ginger. Sauté for 30 seconds until fragrant.
  4. Combine Sauce Ingredients: Pour in soy sauce, honey, rice vinegar, and sesame oil. Stir well.
  5. Thicken the Sauce: Mix cornstarch with water to create a slurry, then slowly add to the sauce while stirring. Cook for 1-2 minutes until thickened.
  6. Coat the Chicken: Return the cooked chicken to the pan and toss in the sauce until fully coated.
  7. Garnish & Serve: Sprinkle sesame seeds and green onions over the chicken. Serve hot with rice or vegetables.
