Ingredients
For the Chicken:
- 1 lb (450g) boneless, skinless chicken breast or thighs, cut into bite-sized pieces
- 1/2 cup cornstarch
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
For the Honey Garlic Sauce:
- 1/3 cup honey
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon fresh ginger, grated (optional)
- 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch mixed with 2 tablespoons water
For Garnishing:
- 1 tablespoon sesame seeds
- 2 tablespoons green onions, chopped
Instructions
- Prepare the Chicken: Pat the chicken dry with a paper towel. In a mixing bowl, toss the chicken with cornstarch, salt, and black pepper until evenly coated.
- Cook the Chicken: Heat vegetable oil in a non-stick skillet over medium-high heat. Add chicken in a single layer and cook for 4-5 minutes per side until golden brown. Transfer to a plate.
- Make the Sauce: In the same pan, reduce heat to medium and add garlic and ginger. Sauté for 30 seconds until fragrant.
- Combine Sauce Ingredients: Pour in soy sauce, honey, rice vinegar, and sesame oil. Stir well.
- Thicken the Sauce: Mix cornstarch with water to create a slurry, then slowly add to the sauce while stirring. Cook for 1-2 minutes until thickened.
- Coat the Chicken: Return the cooked chicken to the pan and toss in the sauce until fully coated.
- Garnish & Serve: Sprinkle sesame seeds and green onions over the chicken. Serve hot with rice or vegetables.
