Ingredients
For the Fries:
- 1 bag (about 1.5 lbs) frozen French fries (or homemade fries)
- 1 teaspoon taco seasoning (optional)
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon paprika
For the Meat Topping:
- 1 pound ground beef (or ground turkey)
- 1 tablespoon taco seasoning
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 cup water
For the Cheese & Additional Toppings:
- 1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/2 cup shredded Monterey Jack or Mexican blend cheese
- 1/2 cup diced tomatoes
- 1/4 cup diced red onions
- 1/4 cup sliced jalapeños (optional)
- 1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro (optional)
- 1/2 cup sour cream
- 1/2 cup guacamole or sliced avocado (optional)
Instructions
1. Prepare the Fries:
- Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C) or follow package instructions.
- Line a baking sheet with foil or parchment paper.
- Spread fries evenly on the baking sheet and season with taco seasoning, garlic powder, and paprika.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes, flipping halfway through for even crispiness.
2. Cook the Meat:
- Heat a skillet over medium-high heat.
- Add ground beef and cook, breaking it apart until browned (5-7 minutes).
- Drain excess grease, then stir in taco seasoning, salt, pepper, and 1/2 cup water.
- Simmer for 2-3 minutes until well combined.
3. Assemble & Bake:
- Remove crispy fries from the oven and top with cooked beef.
- Sprinkle shredded cheese evenly over the top.
- Return to oven and bake for 5-7 minutes until cheese melts.
4. Add Toppings & Serve:
- Remove from oven and top with diced tomatoes, onions, jalapeños, and cilantro.
- Drizzle with sour cream and add guacamole if desired.
