Ingredients

  • 1 lb flank steak, thinly sliced against the grain
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 red bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 green bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 small onion, sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon fresh ginger, grated
  • 1/2 cup beef broth
  • 2 tablespoons oyster sauce
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, toss the sliced beef with soy sauce, cornstarch, and black pepper. Let it marinate for 15 minutes.
  2. Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Sear the beef in batches until browned, then remove and set aside.
  3. In the same skillet, add the remaining oil and stir-fry the bell peppers and onions for 3-4 minutes until slightly tender. Add the garlic and ginger, cooking for 30 seconds.
  4. In a small bowl, whisk together beef broth, oyster sauce, soy sauce, and brown sugar. Pour the sauce into the skillet and bring to a simmer.
  5. Return the beef to the skillet, tossing everything together until well coated. Stir in sesame oil and cook for another minute.
  6. Serve hot over steamed rice or noodles. Garnish with sesame seeds or green onions if desired.
