Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains what information cookmingle.com (“CookMingle”, “the site”, “we”) collects when you visit, how it is used and the choices you have. By using the site you agree to this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.

Who is responsible

CookMingle operates cookmingle.com. For any question about this policy or your data, email [email protected].

Information collected automatically

Like most websites, the site’s hosting provider, content delivery network and analytics tools record technical data when you load a page: your IP address, browser type, device type, operating system, the pages you visit, the time of your visit and the page that referred you. This data is used to keep the site running, measure which posts are read and protect the site against abuse. It is not used to identify you by name.

Information you give us

  • Comments: when you comment, the name, email address and comment text you enter are stored, together with your IP address and browser signature to help detect spam. Your name and comment are public; your email address is not.
  • Contact form: the name, email address and message you send are emailed to the site and kept only as long as needed to reply.
  • Recipe assistant and kitchen tools: questions you type into Mingle or the “What to cook” tool are sent to an AI provider (OpenAI) through this site to generate an answer. They are not linked to your name. Identical questions may be kept in a short-lived cache so the next reader gets the same answer faster.
  • Newsletter: if a newsletter signup is offered, your email address is stored with the email provider named on the form and used only to send the newsletter. Every email has an unsubscribe link.

Cookies

CookMingle uses cookies and similar technologies for the comment form (to remember your name), for site security and fair-use limits on the assistant, for analytics and for advertising. The Cookie Policy page lists them and explains how to control them.

Advertising

The site shows display advertising served by Ezoic and its advertising partners, including Google. These partners use cookies and similar identifiers to show ads, to limit how often you see the same ad and to measure ad performance. Some ads may be personalised based on your visits to this and other sites. You can opt out of personalised advertising at Google’s Ads Settings (adssettings.google.com) and at the Network Advertising Initiative (optout.networkadvertising.org). Ezoic’s own privacy information is available at ezoic.com/privacy-policy.

Ezoic services

This website uses the services of Ezoic Inc. (“Ezoic”), including to manage third-party interest-based advertising. Ezoic may employ a variety of technologies on this website, including tools to serve content, display advertisements and enable advertising to visitors of this website, which may utilize first and third party cookies. A cookie is a small text file sent to your device by a web server that enables the website to remember information about your browsing activity. First party cookies are created by the site you are visiting, while third party cookies are set by domains other than the one you are visiting. Ezoic and our partners may place third party cookies, tags, beacons, pixels and similar technologies to monitor interactions with advertisements and optimize ad targeting. Please note that disabling cookies may limit access to certain content and features on the website, and rejecting cookies does not eliminate advertisements but will result in non-personalized advertising. You can find more information about cookies and how to manage them here.

The following information may be collected, used and stored in a cookie when serving personalized ads: IP address, operating system type and version, device type, language of the website, web browser type, email (in hashed form). Ezoic and its partners use this data within the Ezoic privacy policy and the full list of its advertising partners for this site, which also explains how to opt out. You can view Ezoic’s own privacy policy at ezoic.com/privacy-policy.

Embedded content and links

Posts may embed content from other websites such as Pinterest, YouTube or Facebook. Embedded content behaves as if you had visited that site, and those sites may collect data and use cookies according to their own policies. The site also links to other websites; this policy does not cover them.

Affiliate links

Some posts contain affiliate links. If you buy something after clicking one, CookMingle may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. Affiliate programs may set a cookie to attribute the sale. Affiliate links are disclosed on the pages that use them.

How long data is kept

Comments and their metadata are kept indefinitely so that follow-up comments can be recognised, unless you ask for them to be removed. Contact messages are deleted once the matter is closed. Server logs are kept for a limited period by the hosting provider.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access the personal data held about you, to have it corrected or deleted, to object to or restrict its processing and to receive a copy of it. To exercise any of these rights, email [email protected]. Requests are answered within 30 days.

If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, the legal basis for processing is your consent (comments, newsletter), the performance of a contract (replying to your message) and legitimate interest (security, analytics, advertising). You also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.

If you are a California resident, you may ask what personal information has been collected about you and ask for it to be deleted. CookMingle does not sell personal information.

Children

The site is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided personal information, email [email protected] and it will be deleted.

Security

Reasonable technical measures, including HTTPS, limited access and regular software updates, protect the information the site holds. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure.

Changes

This policy may be updated from time to time. The current version is always published on this page with the date of the last change.
